The Company's primary focus has been Project Management and Life Cycle Material Management (LCMM) support. We are currently providing numerous consultants in support of DND's LCM Management of highly complex equipment used by the Army, Navy, and Air Force. LCMM embraces all facets of maintenance management acquisition through disposal activities including specific engineering studies into maintenance and reliability problems. Since DND equipment can be in service for 40 years of more, this can be particularly difficult. To put this in perspective imagine you had to make your PC run continuously for the next 20 years, and this is a simple piece of equipment.
Prior to equipment being put into service, and assuming the project is of a significant size, DND will normally set up a project office or PMO. AMTEK employees, consultants and associates are currently supporting large PMOs for DND. These include but are not limited to the AIMP (which is a modernization initiative for Canada's Aurora surveillance aircraft), the Maritime Helicopter replacement project, new procurement initiatives for armoured personnel carriers, the small arms replacement project, the CF-18 modernization project, and numerous other smaller projects in support of the Navy Army and Air Force. Amtek also provides resources to support electronic tools used by DND such as DOORS which is used for requirements tracking/ linking and risk management software that enables continuous risk creation, monitoring and mitigation.
We are striving to provide a fully integrated solution for our clients and able to provide enhanced project support services to core activities by aligning Clerical, Translation, Drafting and Illustration services.
It is also normal for our informatics group to be called upon to support these activities and contracts. For instance, the set-up of specialized databases, conducting a business review of current IM/IT infrastructure or developing a web enabled client / server applications are all within the scope of our capabilities.
