How to Apply? You can send us your resume as a general submission, apply for an Ongoing position or present a submission targeted at the requirements outlined in Current opportunities section. Carefully choose and respond to the requirement that is most appropriate, but please do not use a shotgun approach where you submit the same resume multiple times thinking this improves your chances of obtaining a position. However if you are confident of being compliant for more than one position, follow the following procedure. Pick a category that best suits your skills and by clicking on "apply now" it will automatically create an email with the subject line filled in correctly. Add the other cross referenced categories in the body of the email. This cross reference may even be for other Standing offers.

It is acceptable to submit your resume for new positions in Current or Ongoing requirements as they are posted on our site. We keep only one copy of your resume, so if possible, indicate if it is an update.

What is a competitive process? Amtek publishes an extensive list of requirements for all opportunities, rather than a generic description of the job. This allows you to target the most appropriate opening on our web site, and greatly increases your chances of obtaining employment with Amtek. Our primary customers usually require bids for their requirements, and to make the selection process as fair as possible they publish the method utilized to select the winning company. It is normal to have mandatory requirements for the proposed personal. Mandatory requirements is just that, you either meet them or you do not, and for each position you must meet all of them to allow us to prepare a winning proposal. In some cases the customer may evaluate a proposal based on the assignment of points and/or the assignment of points, along with mandatory requirements. Assigning points goes something like the following: Suppose our client values a proposed individual with greater skill, or experience. For instance, assume a customer is looking for an Electrical Engineer. They may assign 10 points for a Bsc., 15 points for a Msc. and 20 points for a Phd. There are many combinations of this selection approach. The following can not be stressed enough. It is not enough to make a statement about experience or education without substantial information backing up this assertion. For instance if there was a requirement to demonstrate 5 years experience as an Oracle developer, its not enough to list your employment history. You should also describe your involvement and responsibilities during the period. Remember the evaluation team at the customers site will not "read between the lines"

What does Amtek do with your Resume? Regardless of how you send your resume to Amtek they will be filed with the classifications as outlined in the General Submission portion of the web site. If you have indicated you are most suited to a job category in a standing offer we will store this as keywords in the database. We only keep a printed copy of the resume in the most appropriate folder. We do not keep either a printed copy or update our database with all submissions, nor will we reply to each resume received. Usually if you send a new copy of your resume we will destroy an old copy. Please see the privacy statement for some additional details.

Employment Section This section of our web site is where resources can obtain a current listing of active and Ongoing requirements with Amtek. New requirements are listed in Current opportunities and active are listed in Ongoing opportunities to allow for a more natural selection in determining what you may be looking for. In most cases these positions are where Amtek is looking to secure persons in the preparation of a bid to a customer. These positions are classified as follows:

For a current contract (FCC). This is the most immediate opportunity, since it is required to fulfill a contract AMTEK is servicing.

For a standing offer. (FSO) This is an opportunity to include your resume in our database. We strongly suggest submitting a resume here. Why? Because this database is where we look for candidates to fulfill upcoming requirements. Also when your resume is reviewed, we may notice other positions you qualify for. Review each of the many standing offers AMTEK to see which category best matches your skills. Do not submit your resume multiple times; submit your resume once, with references to the standing offer positions.

A date which is filled in indicating the last date we can receive a resume and prepare a bid for an upcoming customer requirement. Please get your resume to us as soon as possible.

A submitted bid (SB) where we do not know the outcome but where we anticipate there will be additional requirements (should we win)

A contract won position (CWP), this is one where we have been awarded a contract, and are looking to augment our existing team. Note, this does not mean every one of the positions is open but we list all positions allowing for your resume to be filed properly. Should an opening come up in the contract you will be contacted first. Only contracts where we feel there will be requirements for additional resources are listed.

Read the requirements carefully and apply for a position if you think you meet the requirements. Justify you meet the requirements by responding to the mandatory and / or points rated criteria.

Along with a Title, each position has been assigned a unique number to allow Amtek to track it back to a requirement. At the bottom of each requirement there is an automatic email button which fills in the subject line with this information. Please do not remove or modify it. Use the body of the proposal and attachments to elaborate on your skill. In the body you can address each criterion with detailed information, and by pointing to specific areas in your resume to validate your experience.

There are three columns in the list; closing date, job description and reference #, and location. The closing date is the last day we can submit a proposal to our customer. If the date reads open, it is for a current contract with no specific closing date. The description includes a reference number to allow us to trace a submission back to a requirement. The location is where the work is performed. Otherwise if you have a general submission please go to General Submissions, or Ongoing links located on the employment section of our web site.

General Submission If you want to make a general submission, please assist us in determining the best category or folder for storage of your resume. Review the list of categories and by clicking on the email button the subject will be automatically filled in with the job category. If you think your skills apply to more than one category then indicate this in the body of the proposal. Do not send multiple copies of your resume. These categories were created by Amtek to best suit our business opportunities. We have not tried to classify all possible occupations, only those of interest to our business. If you can not determine a classification just send the resume as a general submission.

What is an ongoing requirement?

Amtek has engaged in a number of competitive processes whereby we have been pre-qualified by a government client to provide a specific skill set of individuals over a period of time.

Amtek looks to establish relationships with qualified individuals that meet the ongoing requirements of our clients to enable us to respond quickly to their specific needs and maximize opportunities for you as a contractor or term employee.

What is a Term Employee?

A term employee is an individual who is on assignment with our client for a predefined period of time that may or may not change. Your employment with Amtek is also predefined for that specific period of time. Program Managers within various programs will, over the course of your contract, identify future possibilities to maintain you as an extended member of our team.

STANDING OFFERS

What is a standing offer? A standing offer is a method of procurement where requirements are sent to a pre selected group of suppliers (vendors) where there are a pre negotiated set of rates (usually maximum rates). This streamlines the subsequent procurement process, which usually unfolds as follows: The requirements (including personal requirements) will be issued to some or all of the companies on a standing offer for a competitive tender, or a contract may be tendered to a specific company. If a company bids they must demonstrate the capability to perform the work, including the proposed personnel. The proposed personnel must meet the minimum requirements of the standing offer and any additional special requirements associated with the specific tender. The base requirements of our standing offers are outlined in the various standing offers we are on. Explore each standing offer to see where you best fit. Note : different levels of government may call this procurement method something else, but for our purposes standing offer suffices.

DND (Department of National Defence) Standing Offer This standing offer is to provide services to the Department of National Defence (DND) where up to 23 different categories of resources can be obtained by the department. You do not need direct DND experience for the positions, but in many cases it is an asset. If you want us to specifically tag you resume to these categories please make a submission using this portion of the web site. Applying for all positions will not improve your chances, only the most suitable ones should be applied for. In all cases we ask you to provide substantiation as to how you meet the requirements. This improves your chances of obtaining a position. Otherwise if you have a general submission please go to the General Submissions section of the web site.
